Common questions
about working
with Firefly

These are the questions we hear most often before a project begins. Whether you're wondering if your website needs to be rebuilt, what an audit actually looks like, or what makes Firefly different from every other agency you've talked to — the answers are here. No sales pitch. No pressure. Just clarity about how we work and whether we're the right fit for your business.

Section 01
Getting Started
Q — 01
Do I need a new website?
Most businesses don't. Many websites can be significantly improved through strategic UX, clearer messaging, conversion optimization, SEO, and AI visibility work — long before a rebuild becomes necessary. The assumption that a new website solves the problem is one of the most expensive mistakes in digital marketing. We'll tell you honestly whether your site needs to be rebuilt or refined.
Common Question
Q — 02
How do I know if my website is the problem?
If your website isn't generating leads, converting visitors, or clearly communicating what makes your business different — it may be quietly costing you business every day. The harder question is why. Is it messaging? Structure? Technical issues? AI visibility gaps? A Firefly audit identifies the specific issues before any recommendations are made — so you're not guessing, and neither are we.
Common Question
Q — 03
What happens during a Firefly audit?

We evaluate your digital presence across seven dimensions:

  • User experience and site structure
  • Website messaging and clarity
  • Conversion opportunities
  • Technical SEO health
  • AI visibility signals
  • Trust and credibility indicators
  • Competitive positioning

The result is a prioritized roadmap — not a generic report. You'll know exactly what to fix, in what order, and why.

Process
Q — 04
What do I actually receive from the audit?
Every audit includes written findings, prioritized recommendations, implementation guidance, and clearly defined next-step opportunities. The goal is clarity, not a generic scorecard. You'll know exactly what needs to change, in what order, and what the expected impact is — whether you implement it yourself or have Firefly handle execution.
Deliverables
Q — 05
What if I don't know which service I need?
That's completely normal — and it's exactly why we start with discovery. Most clients begin with an audit so we can identify the highest-impact opportunities before recommending any specific work. We don't sell services. We solve problems. The audit tells us which problems are worth solving first.

Projects & Process
Q — 06
Do you only work with new websites?
No — and most of our work involves existing websites. Many clients come to us with a site that's already live and simply needs strategic improvements. Whether your site is six months old or six years old, the audit process is the same: we look at what's there, what's working, and what needs to change.
Process
Q — 07
Will you automatically recommend a rebuild?
No. Our philosophy is straightforward: most websites don't need to be rebuilt — they need the right expertise applied in the right order. We only recommend a full rebuild when the existing site's limitations genuinely make improvement impractical. That's a high bar, and we hold ourselves to it.
Process
Q — 08
How long does a typical project take?
Timelines vary based on scope, complexity, and implementation requirements. Most audits are completed within 5–7 business days. Larger refinement or build projects are scoped individually — we'll give you a clear timeline before any work begins, not after.
Timeline
Q — 09
Can you work with my existing developer?
Absolutely. We can provide strategy, recommendations, audits, and implementation guidance while your existing team handles development. Firefly doesn't require exclusivity — we're here to make your current setup perform better, whatever that looks like.
Process
Q — 10
Can Firefly implement the recommendations too?
Yes. Many clients choose to have Firefly both identify the opportunities and execute the improvements. The audit tells us what needs to change — and if you want us to handle the implementation, we build that into the project scope. Some clients prefer to hand the roadmap to their own team. Either approach works. What matters is that the right work gets done, not who does it.

Platforms & Technology
Q — 11
Do you work with WordPress?
Yes — WordPress is one of the platforms we work with most frequently. We're experienced across a wide range of platforms — from WordPress environments like Elementor, Astra, Kadence, Enfold, Divi, and OceanWP to hosted builders like Squarespace, GoDaddy, and Framer. We also integrate CRM tools including HubSpot and Zoho directly into websites — connecting forms, lead capture, and pipelines to your existing platform. If your business is running it, there's a good chance we've worked with it.
Platforms
Q — 12
What website platforms do you support?

We commonly work with:

  • WordPress — Elementor, Astra, Kadence, Enfold, Divi, OceanWP, GeneratePress
  • Squarespace
  • GoDaddy Website Builder
  • Framer
  • HubSpot CMS

CRM Integrations: HubSpot and Zoho — including setup, configuration, and optimization.

If you're on something not listed, ask. Most platforms share enough underlying logic that we can evaluate and advise regardless.

Platforms
Q — 13
Can you improve a website someone else built?
Absolutely. Many Firefly projects begin with websites built by other agencies, freelancers, or internal teams. We have no interest in tearing down work that doesn't need to be torn down. If it can be improved without starting over, that's always the better path — and we'll tell you that honestly, even when a different answer would be easier to sell.
Platforms
Q — 14
Do I need to switch platforms to work with Firefly?
No. We work within your existing platform whenever possible. A platform switch is only ever recommended when the audit reveals that your current system is genuinely limiting your ability to improve — and even then, we'd present the case clearly and let you decide.

AI Visibility & SEO
Q — 15
What is AI Visibility?
AI Visibility refers to how easily AI platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews can understand, trust, and recommend your business. It's the layer of digital presence that traditional SEO doesn't fully address — and it's increasingly where new customer discovery begins. Learn more in our AI Search FAQ →
AI Visibility
Q — 16
Is AI Visibility different from SEO?
Yes — though they're closely related. Traditional SEO focuses on rankings in search results. AI Visibility focuses on whether AI systems understand and reference your business when answering questions. Strong SEO is a foundation for strong AI Visibility — but AI visibility requires an additional layer of optimization that most SEO strategies don't include yet.
AI Visibility
Q — 17
Can Firefly help my business appear in AI search?
Yes. We analyze the signals AI systems rely on — entity recognition, structured data, E-E-A-T indicators, content structure, and third-party credibility signals — and identify exactly where your business stands and what needs to improve. The audit is always the starting point.
AI Visibility
Q — 18
Do I need SEO if AI search is growing?
Absolutely. Strong SEO remains one of the foundations of strong AI visibility — the two aren't competing strategies, they're layered ones. AI systems still rely heavily on well-structured, technically sound, authoritative content. Abandoning SEO to chase AI optimization would be like pulling out the foundation to paint the ceiling.

Investment & Support
Q — 19
How much does a website audit cost?
Pricing depends on website size, complexity, and business goals. We discuss scope during the discovery process — and we're always transparent about what's included before any work begins. We'll tell you exactly what you're getting and what it costs before any work begins.
Pricing
Q — 20
Do you offer ongoing support?

Yes. Many clients continue working with Firefly for ongoing:

  • Website optimization
  • SEO management
  • AI visibility monitoring
  • Conversion optimization
  • Strategic consulting

Ongoing work is structured around what your business actually needs — not a one-size-fits-all retainer.

Support
Q — 21
Do you offer hosting?
Hosting is not included in standard project scopes unless specifically noted. We're happy to advise on hosting options that fit your site's needs and recommend providers we've seen perform well — but managing hosting infrastructure isn't a core Firefly service.
Support
Q — 22
Do you work with businesses outside Orange County?
Yes. While Firefly is based in Southern California, we work with organizations in many locations across the country. Our audit and strategy process is designed to work remotely — we don't need to be in the same city to do this well.
Availability
Q — 23
How much does a typical project cost?
Every project is scoped individually — because every business situation is different. Some clients need a strategic audit and a clear implementation roadmap. Others need ongoing optimization work. Some need a complete rebuild. We determine scope after understanding your goals, your current situation, and what would actually move the needle. What we can promise is that you'll know exactly what you're investing and what you're getting before any work begins. No vague retainers, no scope that expands without conversation.
Investment
Q — 24
What happens after the audit?
You receive a prioritized roadmap — a clear, written document outlining what needs to change, in what order, and why. Some clients take that roadmap and implement the recommendations themselves or hand it to their existing team. Others have Firefly handle implementation. The audit is designed to create clarity regardless of who executes the work. Either path is a legitimate outcome.
Process
Q — 25
Do I have to hire Firefly after the audit?
No. The audit is yours. You're free to implement the recommendations internally, work with another provider, or engage Firefly for execution. We'd obviously love to continue working with you — but the audit stands on its own as a complete, actionable deliverable. We don't hold the roadmap hostage to continued engagement.
No Obligation
Q — 26
What if my website really does need a rebuild?
Then we'll tell you — clearly and directly, with the audit findings to back it up. We default to refinement because most sites don't need to be rebuilt. But some do. When the existing platform or structure genuinely can't support the improvements your business needs, a rebuild is the right call. If that's the conclusion the audit reaches, we'll present the case honestly and scope the rebuild with the same transparency we apply to everything else.

Why Firefly
Q — 27
What makes Firefly different from other agencies?
Many agencies begin with solutions. Firefly begins with discovery. We focus on identifying what's actually holding your website back before recommending anything. That difference in starting point changes everything about what gets recommended and why.
Why Firefly
Q — 28
What industries do you work with?

We frequently work with:

  • Professional services
  • Contractors and home services
  • Nonprofits and community organizations
  • Sports organizations
  • Restaurants and hospitality
  • Mortgage professionals and CPAs
  • Local service businesses
Industries
Q — 29
Why do you say "We illuminate, not rebuild"?
Because many websites already contain the foundation needed for real growth. The problem isn't usually the platform or the design — it's that no one has taken the time to properly diagnose what's actually holding performance back. Our job is to uncover that, then improve it with precision — not assume everything must be replaced to justify the engagement.
